We are proud to celebrate Amanda Jonas Lorentson and the students of the Diverse Mentoring Initiative, who were recognized this week by Speaker Joanna McClinton on the floor of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Amanda founded DMI to pair diverse first-year law students with leading plaintiffs’ firms throughout Pennsylvania, creating access, mentorship, and opportunity for students who have faced real barriers on their path to the legal profession.

Through her trial practice and her leadership of DMI, Amanda is helping build a plaintiffs’ bar that better reflects the communities it serves.

VSCP LAW is proud of Amanda and every DMI student helping bring this initiative to life.

If the other driver was working at the time of a crash, the questions may not stop at who was behind the wheel.

In some crashes, the situation may involve more than one person, company, insurance policy, or set of records. That is why work-related crashes can be more complicated to review.

A delivery route, rideshare trip, company vehicle, commercial truck, or work-related errand can affect what needs to be reviewed, including vehicle ownership, the purpose of the trip, employer involvement, and insurance coverage.

When a crash involves work-related driving, several questions may need to be reviewed:
• Who owned the vehicle?
• Was the driver working at the time?
• Was the driver making a delivery or transporting a passenger?
• Was an employer, company, contractor, or app involved?
• Were there multiple insurance policies that may need to be examined?
• What records may help show what the driver was doing at the time of the collision?
• Was the trip personal, work-related, or connected to a business purpose?

These details are not always clear immediately after a crash. The first insurance conversation may not answer every important question, and the information available at the scene may only tell part of the story.

If you were injured in a crash and have questions about what factors may need to be reviewed, contact VSCP LAW for a free consultation.

Understanding a medical malpractice case is not always straightforward.

Many people assume that if something went wrong during treatment, there is automatically a case. In reality, it is more complex, and knowing the difference can help you better understand your rights.

One of the most important concepts is causation. This means there must be a clear connection between what a healthcare provider did, or failed to do, and the injury or outcome that followed.

▪️ There must be a link between that mistake and the harm
▪️ The key question is whether the provider’s actions changed the outcome

This matters because patients are often already dealing with serious conditions. Not every complication is caused by negligence, which is why these cases require careful evaluation.

If you are in this situation, a few things can help protect your position:
▪️ Keep and organize medical records
▪️ Take note of changes in your condition
▪️ Seek proper evaluation as early as possible

For many individuals, especially those who may feel unsure about their legal options, having clear information is the first step toward making confident decisions.

At VSCP LAW, we focus on helping clients understand complex situations with clarity and experience, so you know where you stand.

Why Emotional Trauma After an Accident Should Not Be Ignored

After an accident, most people focus on what they can see. Injuries, hospital visits, and physical recovery often take priority. But what many individuals do not realize is that the impact of an accident can go far beyond the physical.

Emotional and psychological effects are real, and they can affect your daily life in ways that are not always visible.

This may include:
• Stress and anxiety
• Fear or trauma after the incident
• Difficulty returning to work
• Changes in daily routines or relationships

For many people, especially in communities that already feel overlooked or unheard, these experiences are often minimized or ignored. The reality is that mental and emotional effects may be part of the overall impact of an injury.

Mental health is just one part of the bigger picture. Depending on your situation, a claim may also involve:
• Medical expenses
• Lost income or reduced ability to work
• Ongoing treatment or rehabilitation
• Pain and suffering

Understanding the full scope of what you are dealing with matters. Having the right information early can make a difference in how you move forward.

At VSCP LAW, we take the time to evaluate every aspect of a situation, not just what is visible, and guide our clients with experience and care.

If you have been affected by an accident and have questions about your situation, you do not have to navigate it alone.

VSCP LAW was proud to serve as a Bronze Gala Patron Sponsor of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia’s 2026 Annual Awards & Scholarship Gala, held on May 2, 2026.

The Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, Inc.—founded in 1950—is a leading organization of Black attorneys, judges, and law students dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession. Through advocacy, mentorship, and scholarship initiatives, the organization continues to create meaningful pathways for future legal leaders.

We congratulate the Barristers’ Association on awarding 25 scholarships to law students across the Philadelphia region as they pursue legal education and careers in the profession, and we celebrate this year’s outstanding honorees for their contributions to our legal community.

We also extend a special congratulations to VSCP LAW Trial Attorney Natasha Felder, Esq., who was honored with the President’s Award. This distinction recognizes her “tireless efforts to ensure the success and longevity of the organization and its traditions.”

We are proud to support Natasha’s continued leadership and service, and to stand alongside organizations like the Barristers that are shaping a more inclusive and equitable legal profession.

Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences any family can face.

Amidst grief and overwhelming responsibilities, families often face unexpected questions, particularly when a loss may have resulted from another's actions.

One of the most common questions is this: who has the right to take legal action?

In many situations, the following individuals may be able to file a wrongful death claim:
• Immediate family members
• A legally appointed representative of the estate

Understanding where you stand is an important first step in protecting your rights.

There is also often uncertainty around what a claim may involve. While no legal process can replace your loved one, the law may allow recovery for the financial and personal impact the loss has created, which may include:
• Medical-related expenses
• Funeral and burial costs
• Lost income or financial support
• Loss of companionship and support

Another critical factor that many people overlook is timing.

Important evidence does not stay available forever. Records can become harder to obtain, details may fade, and legal deadlines may apply.

At VSCP LAW, we focus on helping families understand their legal options with clarity and respect.

If you have questions about your situation or are unsure about your rights, taking the first step to get informed can make a difference.
