This week my son Benjamin Shore starts as an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Eric A. Shore.

For those of you who know Ben, let that sink in for a second.

This is the same kid who fought the curfew ordinances in Margate and Ventnor. Who took on the Cherry Hill School Board over service dog rights and at 16 years old testified before the state legislature and helped pass Charlie’s Law, named after his own dog. Who co-founded Rise Against Hate to fight racism and hold institutions accountable.

He then went on to serve in all three branches of the federal government. He interned in Congress. He served as a White House intern in the Executive Office of the President. He worked as a full-time Paralegal Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice. And he clerked in the chambers of three federal judges.

Along the way he built legal software platforms including NJOPRAportal.com, OPRAPro.com, and CHPSOPRA.com, putting government transparency in the hands of everyday people. He builds legal AI tools that are already changing how law firms operate. His profile literally says Attorney. Software Developer. Litigator. That’s Ben.

Last week he passed the Maryland Bar. He took the Uniform Bar Exam and scored high enough to transfer into every UBE state in the country that accepts score transfers.

There were people who counted this kid out over the years. I was never one of them. Not for a single day.

Thirty years ago I joined my father’s law firm. Today my son joins mine. Third generation Shore lawyers.

I couldn’t be more proud of you, Ben. Now let’s get to work.

Just got a call from a woman seriously injured in a car accident who can’t sue for her injuries. No pay. No play. Even if the crash wasn’t your fault, driving uninsured in Florida, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey could cost you your right to recover full compensation for your injuries. Don’t drive without car insurance!

She was rear-ended on I-95.
When the adjuster called the next day, she told the truth: "I think I'm fine."
Two weeks later, an MRI showed two herniated discs. She was missing work. She was in real pain.
The insurance company? They still had that first recording. The one where she said she was fine.
Here's what most people don't know after a Pennsylvania car accident:
-You usually do NOT have to give the other driver's insurance company a recorded statement.
-What you say in the first 48 hours can follow you across every claim: injury, wage loss, disability.
If the phone is ringing and you're not sure what to say, don't say anything yet. Call us first. It's free.

Are pitbull’s the most dangerous dogs? Three of my clients were a bit by Pitbulls in one week!

You walked away from the accident thinking you got lucky.
The car was wrecked, but you weren't bleeding. You waved off the ambulance. You drove yourself home and told your family you were fine.
Then a few days passed.
You forgot a conversation you had that morning. You snapped at your spouse over nothing. The light from your phone made your head pound. You sat down to read a simple email and couldn't make it through the first paragraph.
You're not losing your mind. And you're not "just stressed."
You may have a traumatic brain injury, and TBIs are called "invisible injuries" for a reason. No cast. No stitches. No visible wound. A clean CT scan at the ER doesn't mean your brain is okay. Symptoms can show up hours, days, even weeks after the crash.
In over 30 years and more than 40,000 clients, I've sat across from too many people who said the same heartbreaking sentence: "I know something is wrong, but everyone keeps telling me I look fine."
If that's you, or someone you love, please read this. Your symptoms are real. Your rights are real. And the longer you wait, the harder both your recovery and your case become.

This Mother’s Day I want to tell you about my mom.

She worked her whole life since high school. Then she had me and we couldn’t afford a nanny so she left her job and stayed home to raise me and then my sisters. She gave up everything to take care of us.

By the time her health started to fail she hadn’t worked long enough to qualify for Social Security Disability. Not because she didn’t work hard. Because raising us didn’t count.

She was lucky. She had my father. A lot of women don’t.

Most people don’t realize that when a woman leaves the workforce to raise her family she stops building the work history that Social Security requires. If her health fails before she has time to rebuild it she won’t qualify for regular disability benefits. The program she may end up on is called SSI, Supplemental Security Income. And a lot of people judge her for it.

After helping over 40,000 people fight for benefits they deserved I can tell you that almost all of them deserved every penny. A lot of them were mothers in exactly my mother’s situation. Women who gave everything to their families and had nothing to fall back on when their health gave out.

So before anyone judges someone for being on SSI this weekend just ask yourself one thing. Did they have the same choices you did?

Happy Mother’s Day to every woman who gave more than anyone ever gave her credit for.

After an accident, brain injuries can affect memory, concentration, mood, sleep, and the ability to work, even when scans look normal or others think you seem fine. We often see these effects continue long after the accident itself.
