I believe all local kids are officially back to school. This time of year always brings a little bit of everything. Excitement. A little chaos. New teachers. New schedules. As well as a few people wondering how they are going to get everyone where they need to be on time. šŸ˜‚

Whether you have little ones heading off to kindergarten, teenagers starting another year, or grandkids who are growing up way too fast, we hope this school year brings lots of good memories.

For the parents that dropped their kids off for their FIRST first day or their LAST first day those tears are normal (from the mom who just did the latter this morning).

And to all the teachers, bus drivers, and school staff, who help make it happen...

Hello, September!

Is anyone else wondering how we got here so quickly?
The kids are back in school (or almost if you are on the MN side), the mornings are getting a little cooler, and we are starting to see those first hints of fall.
September always feels like a fresh start around here. New routines. New schedules. New things to look forward to.

What is your favorite thing about fall in the Grand Forks area?

Thereā€™s a lot to admire about Dolly Parton, but what really stands out to me is the way she turned her success into something that continues to benefit other people.

Thereā€™s the music, of course. But there are also the millions of books she put into childrenā€™s hands, the way she invested in her community, and the impact she had far beyond her career.

Thatā€™s what makes me think about legacy.

And itā€™s a good reminder that legacy planning isnā€™t just about money or who gets what when weā€™re gone. Itā€™s about what we leave behind, the things we value, the people we help, and the difference we make while weā€™re here.
