With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our former attorney, shareholder and friend, Darrell Larson. Darrell not only had a law degree but also held an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University, providing additional qualifications that only a handful of attorneys in North Dakota have. Darrell served clients throughout North Dakota and Minnesota in complicated corporate and estate matters and provided counseling and mentorship to many of our younger attorneys throughout his years at the firm.
Besides having a very successful law practice, Darrell was an ardent supporter of the Grand Forks community as a whole. Darrell strongly believed that as the largest law firm in the area, we have a responsibility to give back to the community and he was first in line to lead by example. Darrell served in many roles in the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce, including serving as its chairman in 2002. Darrell served on the Board of Directors of Altru Health System, as well as the North Dakota Museum of Art and was on the inaugural Alerus Center Commission when it was built in 2001. Darrell was an avid supporter of economic development in Grand Forks, the development and restoration of downtown Grand Forks, and served on the design team for the Corporate Center, used as a catalyst to insure a thriving downtown after the flood of 1997.
We will miss Darrell greatly, but are grateful for the work and wisdom he provided to Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson, Ltd. and the leadership he provided to the greater Grand Forks Community.
Rest in peace Darrell – a job well done.
