FRAUD ALERT! the first document is a fake notice for a parking violation my client’s son received in the mail (he does not own a car). They use fairly convincing logos, real court address and phone number, fake case number but in format similar to the courts. The Judge and Clerk both listed as “John Smith” also raised a red flag. They are directed to make a payment by following the QR code to avoid appearing in court. I’m glad my client called me instead of falling victim to this scam. Do not fall for this. The second document is a fraud alert I found on the clerks website warning about this scam.

¡ALERTA DE FRAUDE! El primer documento es una notificación falsa de una infracción de estacionamiento que el hijo de mi cliente recibió por correo (él no posee ningún vehículo). Utilizan logotipos bastante convincentes, una dirección y un número de teléfono de un tribunal real, y un número de caso falso, aunque con un formato similar al de los tribunales. El hecho de que tanto el juez como el secretario figuraran bajo el nombre de «John Smith» también constituyó una señal de alerta. Se les indica que realicen un pago escaneando un código QR para evitar tener que comparecer ante el tribunal. Me alegra que mi cliente me llamara en lugar de caer víctima de esta estafa. No caigan en la trampa. El segundo documento es una alerta de fraude que encontré en el sitio web de la secretaría judicial, la cual advierte precisamente sobre esta estafa.

This was a heavy week but it ended with one of those moments that reenergizes me. I had set my clients case for trial, my third trial of the week. It was worth it in the end because today I got the chance to tell a fifty one year old man that the last obstacle had been cleared for him to legally obtain a drivers license for the first time in his life. That the warrant and criminal charges that had followed him since his youth are finally gone for good. His son who drove him to court, a grown man, had not even been born when this 1999 arrest occurred. Now he will live his life without fear.

There is an initial disbelief when I share news like this. There is an actual exhale from people sometimes and you wonder how long they have denied themselves that release. Today began a new chapter of hope in my client’s life and after 15 years of doing this, these moments have not gotten old nor do I want them to.

Today marks the six year anniversary of Nuñez Legal Group. We are deeply grateful for all those that have supported us along the way and to all of those who have placed their trust in us. My staff and I hold firm to our commitment of treating every client the way you would want your own family treated and that core principal has guided us to helping hundreds of people in their darkest hour.
We are proud to share our new logo, that marks our largest leap forward to date. We have expanded our services to include Indiana and are excited for what the future holds. Thank you!

Order of protection and criminal charge for violating OP both dismissed! I represented a young man since October 2023 on a misdemeanor that normally would have been routine. He was charged with violating an order of protection for allegedly sending very nasty text messages to his ex which he strongly denied sending. His ex provided screenshots that looked very convincing and had time and date timestamps.

My staff and I spent dozens of hours proving what initially seemed impossible to dispute. Our file grew to a size that rivaled our more serious felony cases. We filed multiple subpoenas and motions to compel and for sanctions that effectively proved those messages had been fabricated by his ex in order to get him criminally charged. The underlying order of protection had been previously dismissed and today his criminal charges were dismissed. The state has enough evidence provided by us to charge her criminally but likely won’t. For now my client and I are happy with the win. I believed my client and he believed in us.
