Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorneys David J. Rashid, Brian L. Salvi and Eirene N. Salvi recently obtained a $2 million wrongful death settlement. The recovery was made on behalf of the family of a high-functioning young man with a supportive family who began experiencing worsening anxiety, sleep disruption, and depressive symptoms, prompting his parents to seek professional help. He began therapy and medication, the dosage of which was later increased, thereby elevating the risk of acute suicidal ideation. Two days later, he died of su***de. Plaintiff attorneys alleged the increase in dosage, coupled with a misunderstanding of his underlying condition, caused his su***de.

Not all birth-related fractures are unavoidable complications. While "sacrificing the bone for the brain" is a known medical strategy sometimes required in emergencies like shoulder dystocia, other injuries are indicators of excessive traction or force.

Attorney Matthew L. Williams explains which injuries, such as specific dislocations or skull fractures, should never occur during a standard delivery.

Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorneys John A. Mennie and Heidi L. Wickstrom recently obtained a $1,975,000 medical malpractice/wrongful death settlement on behalf of the family of a man who died from a pulmonary embolism. The man had multiple medical conditions and risk factors for blood clots and showed warning signs of a developing pulmonary embolism. Despite being seen twice by a physician assistant, he was never evaluated by his family doctor, and the doctor was never informed of his symptoms. Plaintiff’s attorneys alleged the defendants failed to properly assess his condition, consider a pulmonary embolism as a possible diagnosis, and order the testing or emergency referral needed to identify and treat the condition before it became fatal. The Krischon family was a close-knit positive group with a bright outlook on life until their lives were forever changed in October 2018. Tragically, 88-year-old Fred Krischon was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Stockton, Illinois, that also left his adult son Bob seriously injured. Seeking justice for their profound loss, the Krischon family turned to Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, who took the family’s case to trial last year. After weeks of trial, a Winnebago County jury entered a verdict of $52 million. Listen to learn more and read about the case at salvilaw.com

Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard attorneys Brian L. Salvi, Michael J. Schostok and Marisa A. Gelabert recently obtained a $4,550,000 personal injury / auto accident settlement on behalf of a woman who was working as a school bus aide for students with disabilities when the bus driver fell asleep behind the wheel, crashed into a parked car, light pole, and eventually crashed into a house. She reported neck pain to paramedics, the ER, and her primary care physician, and an MRI revealed a broad-based bilateral disc protrusion at C5-C6. After 6.5 months of ineffective conservative treatment, she underwent an artificial cervical disc replacement surgery, but her neck pain and radicular symptoms never fully went away despite additional treatment the following year.
