A federal judge in Atlanta has dismissed the Department of Justice's lawsuit seeking Georgia's complete voter list.

Caplan Cobb LLC and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) represented a bipartisan coalition of eight former Secretaries of State who filed an amicus brief urging dismissal, arguing that the Constitution's Elections Clause gives states, not the federal government, primary authority over election administration.

Yesterday, Caplan Cobb LLC and its co-counsel announced a $100 million settlement with Equifax in a series of consolidated cases brought under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. If approved by the court, this will be the largest class-action settlement in the statute's 50-year history.

On July 6, the en banc Eleventh Circuit held in Henry v. Sheriff of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama that the Fourteenth Amendment protects parents’ fundamental right to live with their children—regardless of prior convictions. Caplan Cobb LLC partners Jarred Klorfein and Cameron Roberts filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Southern Center for Human Rights, arguing that constitutional liberty belongs to all people, regardless of class, status, or prior convictions. The Eleventh Circuit agreed.

A jury previously awarded $47 million against our client Schneider National Carriers—a verdict Schneider now seeks to overturn. Caplan Cobb LLC is proud to represent DeKalb District Attorney Sherry Boston in her suit filed today challenging HB 369, which singles out five metro Atlanta counties, changing elections for certain county offices—including district attorney—from partisan to nonpartisan. As the lawsuit lays out, changing election rules only in metro Atlanta violates the Georgia Constitution.
