Many thanks to 11Alive and their great team, including Rebecca Lindstrom and Ciara Frisbie, for shining the light on the Georgia Medical Board’s failure to follow the law and accurately report whether doctors have medical malpractice insurance. Patients have a right to know, and Georgia’s medical board doesn’t do enough to provide this disclosure to protect patients. Instead of spending time prioritizing patient safety and ensuring accountability, the healthcare systems and the billion-dollar insurance industry work to pass laws that rob people of their rights with caps on damages and making it harder to get justice in court even when people have legitimate claims. Many thanks to the Judge Setzer who heard this case and delivered some semblance of justice to the family and, most importantly, much love appreciation to the Jordan family who courageously and continuously share their story for the good of our community.
