⚖️ Big immigration update : and what it really means.

On June 5, 2026, a federal court in Rhode Island (Dorcas v. USCIS) struck down the USCIS policies that had FROZEN green cards, work permits (EADs), asylum, and citizenship cases for people from 39 countries (including Haiti 🇭🇹 ) since late 2025.

✅ What it means: if your case was stuck “on hold” just because of the country you’re from, USCIS now has to go back to processing it.

⚠️ What it does NOT mean: this did not end the travel ban, and it does not change embassy/consular processing. USCIS is following the order but has appealed it ; so things could still change.

If your asylum, work permit, green card, or naturalization case has been frozen since late last year, now is the time to check on it.

🎥 Full breakdown in this video — and I recorded it in Kreyòl too so our community gets this clearly.

It’s been 2 years since I graduated from law school and 1 year since I passed the bar. What an amazing, meaningful, and purpose-driven journey it has been.

As I watched this moment again, I couldn’t help but reflect on how far God has brought me.

I came to this country as a young Haitian girl from Haiti with very little English. I learned English while navigating one of the most demanding academic journeys imaginable: law school. The struggle was real. There were days filled with self-doubt, imposter syndrome, exhaustion, tears, and moments when I questioned whether I was good enough.

But I kept going.

Every late night, every early morning, every sacrifice, every setback, and every challenge was building me into the woman and attorney I am today.

Hearing my name called at graduation was more than a milestone; it was proof that resilience, faith, and perseverance can carry you farther than you ever imagined.

Today, I have the privilege of helping people through some of the most important moments of their lives, and that is a blessing I never take for granted.

To anyone chasing a dream: please don’t give up. Your starting point does not determine your destination. The obstacles in front of you are not there to stop you; they are there to strengthen you.

If a little Haitian girl who barely spoke English could graduate from law school, pass the bar, and build a career helping others, then your dream is possible too.

Keep going. Your future self will thank you for not quitting. ❤️🇭🇹
