Who is at risk of developing an asbestos-related illness?

Anyone who has been exposed to asbestos can be at risk of developing an asbestos disease, but it’s not a certain outcome. Many people exposed to asbestos never go onto develop asbestos disease.

There are five recognised asbestos-related diseases:
- Mesothelioma
- Asbestos lung cancer
- Pleural thickening
- Asbestosis
- Pleural plaques
