As one of the KQ Click Expert Advisors, DTM Legal is proud to support start-ups and early-stage businesses with practical, commercially focused legal advice, helping them put the right foundations in place for sustainable growth.

At DTM Legal, we are proud to celebrate the many ways our team members support their communities outside of work.

In our latest Volunteer Spotlight, we shine a light on Soraya Maroof, Paralegal in our Residential Conveyancing team, and her inspiring work with Cheshire Swing Cats, a not-for-profit swing dance group based in Chester.

As a director of Cheshire Swing Cats, Soraya teaches classes, helps organise events, manages finances, runs the website and supports a welcoming community for dancers of all abilities.

Her volunteering shows the power of bringing people together, helping others build confidence, learn new skills, stay active and experience the joy of dance.

Farm Business Tenancies can be far more complex than a simple occupation agreement.

Whether you are a landowner granting a tenancy or a farmer taking one on, an FBT can involve important property, regulatory, tax and commercial considerations - particularly where land includes dwellings, diversified uses, environmental aims or long-term investment plans.

In his latest article, James Holton explores the key legal support parties should consider before entering into a Farm Business Tenancy.

DTM Legal’s client, Nightfly Limited, is once again celebrating victory following the dismissal of a legal challenge against plans for the Motocross Experience Centre at Rhydblawd Farm, Powys.

This follows the earlier success in securing planning permission and a partial costs award, with the latest decision providing further confirmation that the development can move forward.

The scheme is set to deliver jobs, tourism benefits, investment and environmental improvements for the local area, including a focus on electric bikes to help reduce noise and wider environmental impact.

Congratulations once again to Nightfly Limited and the wider project team.

A recent Court of Appeal decision could have major implications for businesses operating under long-term trade mark licences.

In our latest article, Jordan Foulkes explores how the ruling in Zaha Hadid Limited v The Zaha Hadid Foundation may mean that some “indefinite” trade mark licences can be terminated on reasonable notice, even where the agreement only gives an express right to terminate to one party.

For businesses relying on trade mark licences, this is an important reminder to review existing agreements and ensure future drafting properly protects your commercial position.
