The Law Firm for Truck Safety is hiring one passionate, dedicated trial lawyer.

We only represent families whose lives have been changed by catastrophic commercial truck crashes. We're a national plaintiffs' firm with ten offices and growing, with more NBTA Board-Certified Truck Accident Law attorneys than any firm in the country – and we recently won a groundbreaking case in the U.S. Supreme Court.

You'd carry a deliberately low-volume, high-value caseload. To start, you would be assigned to roughly fifteen wrongful death and catastrophic injury matters, working directly with Michael Leizerman, co-author of the leading treatise on truck accident litigation and co-creator of the NBTA board certification. You'd be lead counsel on many cases and second chair at trial on the largest. For an excellent trial lawyer, the role offers truly exceptional compensation potential alongside work that makes our roads safer.

We're looking for a lawyer who wants to be in the courtroom: 5+ years of civil litigation experience, substantial personal injury or wrongful death work, and an active Ohio license (or the ability to obtain admission promptly).

📍 Remote or Hybrid from one of our Ohio offices (Toledo, Columbus, or Cleveland)
💼 Full-Time | Flexible Hours
💰 $120K base salary + benefits

This isn't a bad year. This is a decade-long trend.

In 2014, 729 bicyclists were killed on U.S. roads. By 2023, that number had climbed to 1,166 – a 60% increase in just ten years. And as we shared earlier this month, 2024 brought 1,103 more.

Think about that. We have more safety technology in vehicles than ever before. We have more bike infrastructure than ever before. And yet the roads are measurably more dangerous for cyclists than they were a decade ago.

The trend doesn't reverse on its own. It reverses when drivers slow down and pay attention. When trucking companies invest in blind spot technology and driver training. When cities design roads that protect everyone on them. When advocates refuse to treat these deaths as inevitable.

National Bicycle Safety Month ends, but the work doesn't. If these posts made you think differently about who shares the road with you, that's where change begins.

Attorneys Grant Lawson and Joe Chenchar are sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience on telematics discovery, ELD metadata, and ghost driver fraud with AAJ's Trucking Litigation Group this week. It is an honor to have them contributing to the conversation in this complex area of litigation.

🚚🚴 When a bicycle and a large commercial truck collide, the outcome is almost never equal.

Of the 1,103 bicyclists killed in traffic crashes in 2024, 52 lost their lives in crashes involving large trucks.

That number deserves context. Large trucks have significant blind spots on all four sides, wide turning radii that can sweep across bike lanes without warning, and stopping distances that can exceed the length of a football field. Cyclists can simply disappear from a truck driver's field of vision entirely.

These aren't just accidents. They're predictable consequences of putting vulnerable road users and 80,000-pound vehicles in the same space without adequate safeguards, training, or awareness.

52 families received the worst news of their lives because of crashes that, in many cases, were preventable.

Awareness is where prevention starts. Accountability is where it gets enforced.

In a rare and unanimous 9-0 decision, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II that freight brokers can be held liable under state law when the unsafe carriers they hire cause deaths and serious injuries on America's roads.

This is a landmark win for crash victims, and The Law Firm for Truck Safety helped make it happen.

Partners Rena Leizerman and Michael Leizerman built the coalition behind this case, bringing together Attorneys General from Ohio, Texas, Illinois, New York, and more than 20 additional states across the political spectrum to stand up for victims' rights.

For years, freight brokers spent millions arguing they were untouchable; that no matter how dangerous the carrier they hired, injured victims couldn't sue them. Today, the highest court in the land unanimously disagreed.

May is National Bicycle Safety Month 🚴

As advocates for road safety, we believe this month matters. Not just for cyclists, but for everyone who shares our roads.

Here's the reality: 1,103 bicyclists were killed in traffic crashes across the U.S. in 2024 alone. That's more than 3 lives lost every day.

Behind every number is a real person - a parent, a child, a neighbor - who set out on a ride and never made it back home.

This month, we're sharing data, raising awareness, and asking a simple question: what will it take to make our roads safer for everyone on them?

Follow along as we break down what the data tells us and what we can do about it.
