Understanding neurodivergence in parenting plans is one of the most important and often overlooked issues in custody and divorce cases.

When structure, transitions, and communication are treated the same for every child, we risk creating parenting plans that look good on paper but don’t actually work in real life.

That’s exactly why I recorded this latest podcast episode.

I’m joined by Carol Waldman of The Waldman Way, where we break down:
• What neurodivergence actually looks like in individuals
• Why understanding structure is so critical
• What the Waldman Way does and what resources are available for neurodivergent individuals
• How these concepts translate into real-world parenting plans

When we better understand neurodivergence, we can move beyond generic parenting plans and start creating solutions that truly support the child.

I tie all of this together from a family law and mediation perspective in this episode.

If you work with families or are navigating custody yourself this is a conversation worth understanding. Look for Divorce and Child Custody Discussion wherever you get your podcasts and listen now!

Something special is coming to the airwaves tomorrow!

I’m thrilled to be joined by Waldman from The Waldman Way for an essential conversation on Neurodivergence and Parenting Plans.

When it comes to custody and co-parenting, a one-size-fits-all approach often misses the mark especially for neurodivergent children and parents. Carol and I are diving into how to structure parenting plans that prioritize sensory needs, routine consistency, and effective transitions.

Check out the video below for a quick preview of what we’re covering, and get your headphones ready for the full audio episode dropping tomorrow!

Thirteen years ago today, I took a leap of faith and opened my own private practice.

What started as a vision to provide dedicated, compassionate legal support to the San Diego community has grown into a journey more rewarding than I ever imagined.

Navigating the complexities of family law and mediation over the last decade-plus has taught me that this work is about much more than legal statutes. It’s about helping people navigate some of the most pivotal moments of their lives with dignity and clarity.

To my clients who have trusted me, my colleagues who have supported me, and my family who has been my rock: Thank you. I’m looking forward to many more years of advocacy, growth, and service.

The Custody Mistake You Might Not Realize You’re Making
In my experience, one of the most damaging things a parent can do during a custody case isn’t what happens in the courtroom, it’s what happens on their smartphone.
The Mistake: "The Venting Text."
It is tempting to send a frustrated text to an ex-partner in the heat of the moment. However, in a custody battle, there is no such thing as a "private" vent.
I’ve just released a deep dive into this and two other critical custody mistakes over on my YouTube channel.
In the full video, I cover:
• How to handle "high-conflict" digital communication.
• Why your social media activity is a legal goldmine for the other side.
• The "Best Interests" standard judges use to evaluate your behavior.
If you are navigating this process, protecting your case starts with staying informed.

It was a privilege to connect with so many legal professionals and students yesterday during my CLE presentation at Purdue Global Law School.
The session, "Family Law Issues: Divorce, Support, and Child Custody," focused on the practical and evolving complexities of modern family law. We had a fantastic turnout and the depth of the dialogue and the exchange of ideas were truly exceptional.
The Q&A segment was a personal highlight as it’s always rewarding to dive into the technical "what-ifs" with such a dedicated group of peers. Thank you to everyone who logged on and contributed to such a vibrant discussion.
If you attended, what was your biggest takeaway from our conversation? Please share in the comments.

I am honored to share that I have been named to the California Super Lawyers list for the third consecutive year in the field of family law.

To be recognized by my peers for this work, an honor reserved for only 5% of attorneys in California, is a responsibility I don’t take lightly.

This selection is based on a patented process of independent research, peer nominations, and statewide evaluations.

Navigating family transitions is one of the most challenging experiences a person can face, and this milestone reinforces my commitment to providing the high-level expertise my clients deserve.

A sincere thank you to my colleagues for their nominations and to my clients for their continued trust.

Your child custody case doesn’t start in the courtroom and it doesn’t end there either.

One of the most critical and often underestimated moments in any custody case is Family Court Services (FCS).

What you say, how you present yourself, and how prepared you are can significantly impact recommendations that shape your case.

In my new YouTube video released today, I break down:
What FCS is and why it matters
Common mistakes parents make
How to prepare effectively and protect your position

If you’re going through a custody case or advising someone who is this is essential viewing.

In my latest video, I’m breaking down why Mediation is the smartest move for families navigating divorce and custody. It’s not just about "settling" it's about:
Control: You make the decisions, not a judge. Future-Proofing: Preserving co-parenting relationships for the kids.
Sanity: Saving months of stress and legal fees.
Mediation turns a "battle" into a transition with dignity.
