November 5 is coming right up. It is the country's 60th Presidential election. We are the world's oldest democracy. We are also, hopelessly complacent. There is just a ton of misinformation out there, but we do know that only one candidate has said that he would among other things: be dictator on day one, has sucked up to Putin and other autocrats, has said this election would be the last so that his supporters may not need to vote again, argues for using the military against US citizens, and has generally said plainly undemocratic things. I am really surprised that so many Americans would still vote for this candidate given his history and his actions and words. The only thing I can attribute it to, is that Americans have had such a stable democracy for so long, that they have lost any understanding of the value of what they could lose here in the next election. Everyone who is eligible to vote, should vote. It wont be obvious until much later if this election was the decisive one or not, but electing the orange one to office based on everything he has said, is not beneficial to the survival of the country and the ability for its citizens to vote in the 61st presidential election.
