My client applied for a concealed carry permit through the Long Beach Police Department. The department denied the application after determining he was allegedly disqualified on the basis that he posed a danger to himself, others, or the community.

On his behalf, I filed a petition pursuant to Penal Code section 26206 challenging that determination. After reviewing the briefing and record, the court concluded that my client was not disqualified and ordered the department to proceed with issuing the permit.

Judicial review plays an important role in ensuring that administrative decisions are supported by the record and consistent with the law.

Mustafa was accused of felony assault following a confrontation in a movie theater. The evidence showed a chaotic moment, an aggressive escalation, and a claim of self-defense. After hearing all the evidence, the jury deadlocked 10–2 in favor of acquittal, and the judge dismissed the case.

Proud to stand with a client who never stopped believing in the process, and thankful for a jury that took its responsibility seriously.

Attorneys Ari Lieberman and Samantha Greene recently prevailed at a preliminary hearing where the client was charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Four days of evidence was presented. Hours of call detail record information, text messages, Snapchat photos of weapons, Perkins Operation information. At the end of the preliminary hearing, it was argued insufficient evidence had been presented and the charges should be dismissed.

Ultimately, the judge agreed. Both charges were dismissed. Getting charges dismissed at a preliminary hearing is something that rarely happens, yet alone murder charges. An incredible result! After almost one year in custody, the client was released later the same day.

🚔 In California, DMV Administrative Per Se (APS) hearings are conducted to determine the status of a driver’s license following a DUI arrest. These hearings are separate from criminal court proceedings and focus solely on the administrative suspension or revocation of the driver’s license. They can be very difficult to win because of the low burden of proof and procedural structure of the hearings.

👨🏻‍⚖️🏛️During the APS hearing, the DMV reviews evidence such as the officer’s report, chemical test results, and any other relevant documentation. The main issue at stake is whether the driver was operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above the legal limit of 0.08% at the time of the arrest.

🚨In this case, the client was arrested for a DUI and allegedly refused to provide a chemical test. Refusing to provide a chemical test can result in a one year license suspension without the possibility of receiving a restricted license during the suspension period.

🏆We successfully prevailed at the DMV APS hearing. Not only did we dispute the refusal allegation, but also the lawfulness of the arrest. The Law Office of Ari S. This morning I had the opportunity to sit on a panel at California Western School of Law and speak to admitted students. I enjoyed answering their questions about the journey through law school and give some advice. I was also able to share the stage with my amazing wife who is also a California Western alumni.

⚖️Another positive result for a very deserving client!⚖️

The client was investigated by the San Diego Police Department for allegedly strangling and assaulting his girlfriend. The client contacted and retained the Law Office of Ari S. Lieberman when he learned about this investigation. We were able to be proactive and conduct an independent investigation. This information was provided to the assigned detective, and then the District Attorney’s Office.

Ultimately, the District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against the client. This is a perfect example of why it is important to hire an attorney as soon as you can. Let the attorney do all of the talking for you.
