It is tax time, so a good time to think about ways to save or to nail down funds you might be entitled to......we already advised you to verify you have applied for your homestead tax credit by checking on Maryland's State Department of Assessment and Taxation Website, just go to real property, type in your street address and if it says "no application" at the bottom and the property you are researching is your primary residence....you should apply! Even thought you missed the 12/31/13 deadline to be effective for the July 2014 bill, it will be effective the following year...do JUST DO IT! About 1/3 of the properties I check, have not applied, although eligible. We check this for all of our clients. Next, we will tell you how to see if you have "unclaimed funds" due you held by the State!

For those of you who missed the December 31, 2013 deadline to file an application online for a homestead tax credit on your county real property taxes, you can still apply by printing the application and mailing it. it will not be effective this coming tax year, but will be effective the following tax year....do it now so you don't have to remember to do it in the future!
