Friedman Schuman Layser, PC is excited to share that Eric Letterer has passed the Pennsylvania Bar Exam!

Since joining our firm as a legal extern in the spring of 2025, Eric has gained valuable hands-on experience working with our estate planning team. His work has included attending client meetings, drafting documents, conducting legal research, and assisting with a wide variety of estate planning and corporate matters.

We are proud to celebrate this milestone and excited to welcome Eric as an associate attorney in our Estate Planning Department. All of us at Friedman Schuman Layser look forward to his continued success and contributions to the firm.

Friedman Schuman Layser, PC Attorneys Brett J. Kaminsky and Katherine Lekh Secure $430,000 Jury Verdict Against Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Friedman Schuman Layser attorneys Brett Kaminsky and Katie Lekh recently secured a $430,000 jury verdict on behalf of a two-year-old cancer patient who suffered serious injuries following a fall at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

The child was an inpatient at CHOP undergoing radiation treatment for a brain tumor. Despite his known fall risk following brain surgery, he was placed in an adult hospital bed rather than a protective crib. He subsequently fell from the bed, suffering a severe brain bleed that required emergency surgery and resulted in significant neurological injuries before passing away.

The verdict holds CHOP accountable for failing to take appropriate precautions to protect a vulnerable young patient in its care.

Friedman Schuman Layser is pleased to share that Harold Goldner will be a featured presenter of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute CLE entitled, "Practical AI for Lawyers: The Tools and the Rules 2026" on October 19, 2026.

This CLE will explore both the practical applications of artificial intelligence and the legal and ethical considerations surrounding its use in the legal profession. Harold will be presenting on the implications of AI for lawyers in their roles as employers, including how artificial intelligence may impact human resources matters and workplace policies.

Trust assets must be distributed according to the terms established by the person who created the trust. While a trustee is generally responsible for managing and distributing the assets, beneficiaries may need to submit a written request for funds and the trustee must follow the trust’s terms and their fiduciary duties.
