Asbury Park’s history reminds us that employment opportunity has always been a civil-rights issue. Its resort economy relied heavily on Black workers, yet unequal access to jobs, advancement, and economic opportunity—especially for Black youth—became a central grievance during the 1970 Asbury Park uprising.
At Working Solutions Law Firm, we recognize that workplace equity is more than a policy goal. It means fair access to employment, equal treatment, meaningful opportunity to advance, and accountability when discrimination affects a person’s livelihood.
New Jersey employees are protected by the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination from discrimination and harassment based on race and many other protected characteristics. Employers also have legal obligations to maintain workplaces free from unlawful discrimination and retaliation.
Asbury Park’s history is a powerful local reminder: economic inclusion, workplace dignity, and equal opportunity matter.
If you believe discrimination, retaliation, or unequal treatment has affected your job, compensation, promotion opportunities, or workplace environment, it may be important to understand your rights and obtain legal advice promptly.
