The 6 steps of Texas probate, explained. 🏛️

1. File the application. The executor (or someone seeking to be one) files with the probate court in the county where the decedent lived.

2. Notice period. Texas requires a 10-day public notice at the courthouse before the hearing.

3. The hearing. A quick court appearance where the judge validates the will (if there is one) and formally appoints the personal representative.

4. Letters testamentary. The court issues Letters, giving the executor legal authority to act on behalf of the estate.

5. Inventory + creditor notice. Assets are identified, valued, and creditors are notified. Claims have to be filed within a set window.

6. Distribute + close. Once debts and taxes are paid, remaining assets go to the heirs. The executor files a final accounting.
