UPDATE: After 55 minutes, the jury came back with a verdict of $5,380,655.06. My partner John Roven and I were proud to represent this man who only wanted the railroad, to whom he devoted over 17 years of his life, to take some responsibility for their failures. After years of refusal and low-ball offers, thankfully a Caddo Parish jury will make them change their ways and provide a safer working environment for the remaining employees. Thank you to Kellye Raymond Browner for her help in finding 12 (+2 alternate) jurors who gave up over 2 weeks of their life to listen to the facts and enforce the law.

Week 2 of trial has begun in Shreveport. Took a day and a half to get 12 in the box with 2 alternates, but we are proud to be here representing a railroad electrician who was seriously injured back in 2017.

Don't assume you're out of luck if you're injured in a company vehicle, van, hotel, or on another industry's property while on railroad company time. You may still have a FELA case. The Supreme Court has ruled that railroads must provide a safe work environment, no matter where your job takes you. If they don't, the railroad can still be held liable for the contractor's negligence under FELA.
