Just when we think the Trump administration can’t make things worse for aspiring immigrants & future citizens, they do exactly that with their anti-immigrant memo issued last Friday. I’ve been working here in the office on Saturday, Sunday & this Memorial Day holiday collaborating with colleagues around the country & helping clients remain calm. I could just gnash my teeth but I choose to continue advocating for our clients & their families.

Due to the Administration’s continual attacks on lawful immigration procedures, these are especially stressful times for aspiring immigrants, their families, & their lawyers. Just now it was uplifting to hand Ana & her husband, Max, her green card. She was born and raised in Costa Rica and hopes to apply for U.S. citizenship when eligible in a few more years. Our country is fortunate to welcome new immigrants & future citizens like Ana. 🇨🇷 🇺🇸

Another Happy Day here at 704 Rio Grande. I got to meet Anna-Katharina & Lance’s baby boy on his 3 month birthday! Anna is a German citizen. Did I mention that I got to hand Anna her green card? By coincidence I ran into our clients, Yeny & Cesar Esparza, when I went to the Mexican Consulate today to provide other families pro bono immigration consultations. Yeny & Cesar are raising their 4 U.S. citizen girls including these precious identical twins. We previously represented Yeny on her citizenship case, obtained a green card status for Cesar & are now applying for Cesar’s citizenship. I was delighted to see these clients, but the consultations were disheartening. One woman had paid an unethical Seattle lawyer over $12,000 who (unbeknownst to her) had filed a frivolous immigration case. The denied case has put this woman in jeopardy of deportation. That lawyer is being prosecuted now for filing bogus claims. Aspiring immigrants should avoid scams & seek reputable lawyers for advice & representation.
