If you moved to a new state, your trust probably does not need to be rewritten.

But your new assets do need to go inside it.

A trust transfers your assets automatically without going through probate. Unlike a will, it does not have to be amended every time you move as long as you title your new assets, including your new home, in the name of the trust.

That said, there are exceptions. Certain situations require you to update or amend your trust when you move to stay in legal compliance with the state you now live in. That determination requires expert legal advice.

The worst thing you can do is assume everything is fine without checking.
