22 months after the crash, you finally feel ready to call a lawyer.

In Georgia, that may leave you about 2 months. Most personal injury claims must be filed within 2 years of the injury, and claims involving a government entity can require formal notice much sooner.

By then, camera footage has been overwritten, the cars are repaired, and witnesses are hard to reach. The case can still be strong. It just gets harder to prove every month you wait.

What did Jeb Butler get wrong about lawyers before he became one?

Is a dog owner automatically liable in Georgia?

No. Georgia generally asks one of two things: whether the owner knew the dog was dangerous, or whether the dog was loose in violation of a local leash rule.

That second route is why the leash ordinance where the bite happened can matter as much as the dog's history.
