Since our leaders haven’t called for it, except our Pastor at Mount Paran Church, I will follow Dr. Cooper’s Idea. This Friday, June 12th, The Wright Firm will be closed for a day of confession, prayer, and fasting...we are shutting down business for this day to pray about the hurt and suffering caused by systemic racism and injustice. We are confessing for the sin and hurt caused by hate. We are fasting for healing. And we are praying for love to grow in our hearts. We are praying for the safety of protestors and that their voices will be heard. We are praying for law enforcement and that they will demand better of themselves. We will pray for one another. On Friday, I will make my page public for posts for prayers, comments, and to share the love. I am asking my choir, my friends, and my judge and lawyer friends to think about doing the same thing or if you have to work, then make sure to post. If we make this public, we can be together in this time for prayers and healing.
And, this doesn’t mean we stop the work of protest and seeking change; rather it means we share with our neighbors in a time of quiet solidarity. We exercise regret and remorse. We stop to cry. To apologize. To hurt together. We stop for a single day, we fast, and we aplogize for letting our world and our country become a place of suffering. We ask our Creator for forgiveness, regardless of your name for God.
I hope that you all will participate too.
