Recall Alert!
Yesterday, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and manufacturer OCOOPA announced the recall of OCOOPA Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery hand warmers. Specifically the dual-sided rechargeable version, sold in packs of two where the warmers can be magnetically joined.
The recall is due to almost 1,500 reports of the hand warmers overheating, which have resulted in at least 15 fires and 350+ burn injuries, including one death. They have advised consumers to stop using all recalled devices immediately.

July 25 is World Drowning Prevention Day. Most people think drowning requires full submersion, but it is possible to down in as little as 2 inches of water. And drowning happens fast: it can take less than a minute for someone to drown.

Drowning is entirely preventable- so keep these safety tips in mind as you spend time at the pool, beach, lake or floating down the river.

🚨Don't let your child become a victim of the latest viral squishy toy trend. Squishy toys like NeeDohs, TabaSquishy dumplings and other gel-filled sensory toys are all the rage- but the gel inside becomes incredibly dangerous when heated. Doctors have reported children have suffered severe burns after these toys heat up and burst open, spewing the hot, glue-like gel and causing serious injuries.

Talk to your kids about safe play and storage. Do not heat these toys or leave in hot cars. 🚗

⚠️Recall Alert ⚠️Recently, Kawasaki recalled approximately 3,585 model-year 2026 Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 recreational off-road vehicles after receiving reports that a critical drive converter component could fail, causing metal fragments to be discharged from the vehicle.
According to the recall notice, Kawasaki received 19 reports involving drive converter sheave breakage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported to date.
Owners have been instructed to stop using the vehicles immediately and contact an authorized dealer for a free repair. The remedy includes replacement of the clutch sheave assembly, installation of a protective clutch cover guard, and reprogramming of the engine control unit.

Today marks the start of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's annual safety awareness week.

Did you know that as of the end of April 2026, there have been over 33,300 crashes involving trucks, with 760+ of those involving fatalities? Heavy trucks make up only about 4% of all registered highway vehicles, but given the long distances they go, account for approximately 10% of all miles driven. Even though truck accidents only make up about 6% of fatal accidents, they often result in some of the most severe injuries and damages given their size.

As you embark on summer travel, keep these safety tips in mind:
1. Stay out of blind spots
2. Do not cut in front of a large truck or bus
3. Leave extra space when following
4. Give trucks and buses extra room to turn

The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that freight brokers may now be held liable for negligently hiring unsafe trucking companies. A freight broker is a company that helps connect businesses needing goods shipped with trucking companies (carriers) that transport those goods.

The Court recognized that brokers play a critical role in selecting carriers and may be responsible when they ignore poor safety records or unfit drivers. This is a major development in trucking litigation and could expand accountability beyond the driver and trucking company to include the freight broker. DRUG ALERT: The FDA is proposing to withdraw marketing approval of TAVNEOS (avacopan) after discovering serious new issues. The agency says there is not enough reliable evidence that the drug actually works as claimed. According to the FDA, key clinical trial data may have been manipulated to make the drug look effective, even though the original results did not support that conclusion.

The letter also states that important information was not properly shared with the FDA during approval, including how the study data was analyzed. Because of this, the FDA believes the approval may have been based on inaccurate or misleading information.

In addition to concerns about effectiveness, Tavneos has been linked to serious safety risks, including liver damage and other potentially life-threatening conditions.
