Thailand wants to become a medical investment hub. What does that mean for investors?

The opportunity extends beyond hospitals to medical innovation, healthcare services and related businesses. Yet before a project can move forward, investors need to understand which activities may qualify for investment promotion, how to structure their investment, and which licences and approvals are required.

These are some of the questions explored by Thanyaluck Thongrompo, Partner and Head of Regulatory, Permits and Licensing Practice, and Bhimukh Tiamsawet, Associate, at Kudun and Partners in their article, “Thailand’s Medical Investment Hub: What the New National Policy Means for Healthcare Investors,” featured in AMCHAM Thailand’s T-AB Magazine, September 2026 issue.

🎯Responsible AI shouldn't begin at launch. It should begin at design.

Nopparat Lalitkomon, Partner and Head of Technology, Data & Innovation, and Sirirat Rinsiri, Associate, represented Kudun and Partners at the UN Responsible Business & Human Rights Forum. They attended a session on embedding human rights safeguards in AI product design through a child rights-based approach.

His key takeaways:

🔹 Privacy, AI ethics and human rights shouldn't sit in separate silos. The underlying questions overlap.
🔹 Safeguards designed for adults aren't enough for children. Age-appropriate design and the best interests of the child must be part of the AI lifecycle.
🔹 Don't wait for regulation. Act before every risk becomes a legal requirement.

The direction is clear: Privacy by Design + Human Rights by Design + AI Governance by Design.

The next challenge is making it work in practice, from impact assessments to testing and accountability.

How is your organisation building safeguards into AI from day one? 👇

From a Shenzhen stage to a stronger Thailand–China legal bridge 🌉

Recently, our Partner and Head of China Practice, Mayuree Sapsutthiporn (林小丁), joined 500+ lawyers, business representatives and industry leaders from 58 countries and regions at the 2026 Chinese-Speaking Lawyers Conference (华语律师大会) in Shenzhen.

Three moments stood out:

🎤 On the forum stage
Mayuree spoke at the Corporate Internationalization & Compliance Forum, sharing practical insights on Thailand investment compliance, from market entry and foreign ownership restrictions to nominee risks, BOI incentives, corporate governance and the latest regulatory developments.

🤝 On paper
She signed a cross-border cooperation memorandum on behalf of Kudun and Partners with fellow legal service organisations, deepening our ties with the international Chinese-speaking legal community.

🥂 On the mic
Invited as a representative of overseas lawyers, Mayuree served as MC for the conference gala dinner, bringing a Thai and international perspective to the evening as a Chinese-speaking lawyer from Thailand.

Why it matters: as Chinese businesses continue to expand across Thailand and Southeast Asia, regulatory and compliance considerations don't end at market entry. They shape the entire investment lifecycle, and that is exactly where we work alongside our clients.

Thank you to the organisers and to everyone we met in Shenzhen. We look forward to building even stronger legal and business connections between China, Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Planning to invest or expand in Thailand? Let's talk.
