The Presidency must heed the call and do the needful.

We die every day.
We lose our homes every day.
We watch communities emptied by fear every day.

It has gotten worse.

They are no longer “unknown gunmen.” They have become celebrity gunmen—bold enough to show their faces on social media, confident enough to flaunt their crimes before the nation.

That is not just a slap in the face of government authority; it is a full-blown smackdown of the state’s monopoly on security.

When criminals become comfortable enough to seek attention rather than avoid it, the situation has moved beyond a security challenge—it has become a national emergency.

Nigerians deserve safety.
Communities deserve peace.
The time for decisive action is now.

Today reminds us that every child deserves safety, laughter, education, freedom, and the warmth of home; not fear, silence, or uncertainty.

Not every response to injustice is truly an action.

Sometimes, speaking without demanding accountability becomes another form of silence.

A teacher was killed.
Others were kidnapped.
Families were thrown into a state of fear and uncertainty.

Yet the response from a union meant to protect and represent its members is reduced to fasting, prayers, and assurances that the government is “currently exploring measures.”

But this insecurity did not begin today.
The killings did not begin yesterday.
The warnings have existed for years.

Why should a government still be “exploring measures” after countless lives have already been lost?

Honestly, many expected something stronger.
A massive shutdown in Oyo.
A loud protest.
A united demand for justice.
A direct call-out of the government over the worsening insecurity and repeated failure to protect lives.

Faith and prayer have their place, but justice also demands responsibility, pressure, policy, protection, and accountability. A society cannot continue to normalise tragedy while postponing decisive action.

Citizens should not only mourn.
They should question.
They should demand answers.
They should hold leadership accountable for repeated failures to protect lives.

Because when institutions respond to repeated violence with only symbolic reactions, the danger is not just silence;
It is the normalisation of helplessness.

Justice requires more than emotional appeals.
It requires action.
