We were pleased to be part of F&B Synergy 2026 – Malaysia’s F&B Business Matching & Networking Event, held on 15 August 2026 at The Ark Plus Event Space.

We are proud to share that our Senior Partner, Ms. Esther Ong, was recently featured in The Sun, where she shared her views on the need to reform Malaysia’s Copyright Act to address legal issues arising from AI-generated works.

As artificial intelligence continues to advance and becomes increasingly involved in the creation of content, it has raised new legal challenges within the field of intellectual property. Questions surrounding the protection of AI-generated works, the role of human creativity, and the rights of creators have become increasingly important as existing copyright principles face new challenges brought by technological developments.

Ms. Esther highlighted the importance of reviewing and strengthening Malaysia’s copyright framework to ensure that it remains capable of addressing these emerging issues. Rather than viewing AI-related challenges separately, the discussion emphasised the need for copyright law to evolve in a way that provides clarity, protects creative works, and supports responsible innovation.

Her insights reflect the importance of ensuring that Malaysia’s intellectual property laws continue to develop alongside technological progress while maintaining a balance between encouraging innovation and safeguarding the interests of creators.

A proud moment for ETS as we celebrate our Senior Partner, Ms. Esther Ong, on being honoured to be the panel speaker at the GLA x The Decennial Summit - the 10th Global Arbitration & Litigation Conclave in Hong Kong.

Representing Malaysia alongside disputes practitioners from over 10 jurisdictions, Ms. Esther spoke on “When Disputes Become Personal: Directors, Liability & Reputation at Risk”, sharing insights into the Malaysian legal framework on directors’ liability.

Her presentation examined how directors may be held personally accountable under statutory duties and corporate governance principles, particularly where decisions made in their capacity as directors result in legal consequences. The discussion provided international practitioners with valuable insight into Malaysia’s approach in balancing the principle of separate legal personality with the need for director accountability.

Through this platform, Ms. Esther contributed to cross-border legal discussions and showcased the development of Malaysian corporate law within the wider international legal community.

On 26 June 2026, we were honored to have our Senior Partner, Miss Esther Ong to conduct a talk with the China visitors who are mostly entrepreneurs. The talk was about the legal must-know for them to do business in Malaysia.

The venue was at People & Global Sdn. Bhd, where the China group had a corporate visit at. 13 people were present at the visit.
