🔹 Meet the Team: Emma King, Director & Owner at Clarity Simplicity 🔹
We’re delighted to continue our Meet the Team series with one of the firm’s key leaders — Emma King, Director and Owner at Clarity Simplicity.
Role: Director / Owner
Joined Clarity Simplicity: 14 years 3 months
What inspired your career in law and to join Clarity Simplicity?
“No one knows how/why- no one in my family had been to university never mind been a lawyer, but I decided I wanted to be a lawyer in primary school and stuck at it. Some would say a lack of imagination- I prefer determination. Joining Clarity Simplicity was joining a former colleague who had struck out on his own. I wanted to take the opportunity to help him build something different and be a significant factor in that.”
What do you enjoy most about your role?
“I enjoy its variety- I don’t think I can call myself a traditional lawyer. A lot of my time is training and developing and seeing those that I’m able to spend time with grow and develop in their careers is hugely rewarding.”
Outside of work:
“Cook, take the dog for walks and travel”
Favourite memory or proud moment:
“Being able to announce to the team that based on performance there was a meaningful reward for all in terms of enhanced benefits and financial bonus”
Something people might not know about you:
“I’m known for being incredibly organised but in my personal life it’s the opposite”
Current goals and aspirations:
“Continuing the growth of the firm to be the best it can be- different not disruptive in the Scottish legal marketplace”
Favourite book, film, or TV show:
“Masterchef Australia- love watching for food inspiration”
Community and charity involvement:
“Its been a very proud moment leading the firm to not just ad hoc charity engagement but regular consistent/persistent support of our chosen charity partner”
Dream travel destination:
“Too many to choose from- shortlist Sri Lanka, India or Myanmar”
Quote or mantra that inspires you:
“Everything happens for a reason- I don’t always know the reason and it can seem very obscure but particularly when things are tough this is what I repeat and there’s never a situation you cant learn and grow from”
We’re grateful for Emma’s leadership, determination and commitment to supporting the growth of both the firm and its people.
