The Ethnic Minorities Law Centre (EMLC) has been operating since 1991 providing ethnic minorities with access to professional legal services aimed at addressing poverty issues and meeting the unmet legal needs of individuals from ethnic minority communities. Our Aims

nsitive bilingual services EMLC seeks to ensure equal access to justice for all;
♣ Access to Rights – Securing equal access to rights and empowering people, building their confidence and raising their aspirations and exceptions;
♣ Access to Services – Access to and the provision of legal services through fair
treatment and the application of policies and practices that recognise differences
in our society;
♣ Access to Information – The provision of more culturally sensitive information to secure a wider understanding of rights and responsibilities

What we do...

We provide legal assistance to ethnic minority communities which in turn assists them to access opportunities, reduce poverty and address barriers to participation. In addition, we have also continued to deliver training on the important issues which prevent discrimination from taking place.

The Ethnic Minorities Law Centre has been successful in securing funding from the Scottish Government for its Equality and Human Rights Fund for a 3 year fixed term project.

EMLC is seeking solicitors holding an unrestricted Scottish practicing certificate with a minimum 1 years practical PQE

We are currently looking for passionate solicitors to join a fantastic legal charity firm based in Glasgow. We are a friendly mid-size firm offering an excellent work life balance and the opportunity to progress your career in a positive, team-driven environment.

You will be handling your own caseload of legal aid and private clients. This will be an interesting and diverse workload and the solicitor should be self-motivated with good drafting skills to prepare representations.

Key attributes of the solicitor include having strong work ethics, good delivery of work, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a personality to match.

We are currently looking for a passionate Development Officer to join a fantastic legal charity firm based in Glasgow. We are a friendly mid-size firm offering an excellent work life balance and the opportunity to progress your career in a positive, team-driven environment.

To meet the challenges of this role you will have excellent IT skills in Word and Excel and be confident in working at an advanced level.
The post-holder will be expected to be a highly organized and articulate professional with experience of Project management.
The post-holder will be expected to have excellent communications skills and the ability to develop working relationships with all relevant external agencies.

The post-holder will be expected to develop communication and working relationships with all sections of the workforce and the ability to lead and motivate others.

The post-holder will be expected to get involved with all aspects of the Project, having strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task and be a skilled problem solver with proven ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
