Last week our Managing Director, Stacy Campbell, attended the Scottish Licensed Trade News Women in Hospitality event at The Caledonian Edinburgh. It was a great afternoon celebrating some of the brilliant women working across Scotland’s hospitality sector.
The event centred around a panel discussion led by Amy Knox, Julie Dalton and Gillian Murray, alongside Mari and Kim, co-owners of Daddy Marmalade, covering the challenges facing the sector, their different career journeys and the importance of mentoring and supporting the next generation.
The discussion sparked some great questions with plenty of grit, honesty and vulnerability being shared in equal measure.
One of the points raised surrounded property and leasing issues which was timely as Stacy’s latest article, published in the September edition of the Scottish Licensed Trade News looks at what hospitality operators should be thinking about before signing a commercial lease.
There can be hidden dangers in a lease which can come back to bite if they’re not properly considered at the outset. We always encourage taking specialist advice before signing anything - but especially something as potentially costly as a lease.
