Spouses are still able to enter into an Agreement outlining how property is to be divided and support is to be paid in the event of an eventual separation.

However, if already married, this would be considered a Post-Nuptial Agreement instead of a Pre-Nuptial Agreement.

This Agreement would still require independent legal advice from separate counsel for the parties.

A Jurat is a portion of a signed document where a Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths certifies that an individual swore or affirmed the contents of the document as being truthful.

Jurats are commonly found on Affidavits and Statutory Declarations, as well as other legal documents.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day - Every Child Matters.

Our office will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and we will resume our normal business hours on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.

Join us today in wearing an orange shirt to honour the children who did not return home, and to honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities.
