Justice served!

Justice Served.

After an eight-day federal civil rights trial, the jury returned a $2.35 million verdict in favor of our client, Chief Mohamed Magassouba, and against Prince George’s County, Maryland.

This case was about accountability, perseverance, and the pursuit of justice—and today, justice prevailed.

Congratulations to Attorney Jordan D. Howlette and our entire trial team for their relentless advocacy and commitment to protecting civil rights.

As we begin Black History Month, we at Justly Prudent take this moment to recognize the immense contributions of Black Americans to our nation’s history, culture, and progress. This month is not just about reflection—it is about action, education, and a renewed commitment to justice, equity, and opportunity for all.

"In recent months, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives have come under attack, fueled by harmful misconceptions that they provide an unfair advantage to marginalized groups at the expense of merit and qualification," said Managing Attorney Jordan D. Howlette. "This narrative is not only false—it is dangerous. DEI initiatives do not seek to elevate less qualified individuals over more qualified ones. Instead, they ensure that historically excluded voices have a seat at the table in spaces where they have been systematically denied access, whether intentionally or unintentionally."

As a veteran, former U.S. Department of Justice trial attorney, and civil rights lawyer, I rarely make public political statements. Today, I'm breaking that silence to share my deeply personal perspective on why this election transcends partisan politics. This isn't about traditional Republican vs. Democratic values—it's about protecting the fundamental rights and democratic principles I've spent my career defending.

I invite you to listen to my thoughts on why my husband (Lars Kroner) and I, as moderate Americans who value both fiscal responsibility and civil rights, believe this is the most consequential election of our lifetime. Whether you agree or disagree, I hope you'll take a few minutes to hear my reasoning, based on facts and personal experience rather than partisan rhetoric.

Proud to share the news from our Civil Rights Division that our client's Title VII retaliation claims against the U.S. Department of Justice have survived the government's motion to dismiss! Now the truth can be pursued in the discovery phase of the proceedings.

🎉 Exciting News from the Courtroom! 🎉

We’re proud to announce a significant procedural victory in our ongoing Title VII case against the U.S. Department of Justice. After waiting patiently for several months for a ruling, our client's retaliation and retaliatory hostile work environment claims have survived the government’s motion to dismiss! 🚀⚖️

Despite the government’s efforts to bar these claims from being heard on the merits, the court recognized the strength and validity of our arguments. This win allows us to move forward and fight for justice on behalf of our client, who has endured retaliatory actions simply for standing up against discrimination.

Thank you to our incredible team for their hard work and dedication. We remain committed to seeking justice and holding wrongdoers accountable.

The case is Anderson v. U.S. Department of Justice (Case No. 1:23-cv-02674), filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

Excited and honored to be accompanying our clients to The View to advocate for the passage of Eric's ID Law in Maryland! if passed, Eric's ID Law would allow individuals with disabilities to voluntarily elect to place one of four icons on their drivers' licenses to inform law enforcement that they are interacting with someone who has a hidden disability. 🚨 Victory Alert! 🚨

We're thrilled to share that the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County granted our motion for summary judgment in favor of our clients, bringing a fitting close to a two-year business litigation battle! 🏆📜

In our motion, we argued that the plaintiff, Treetop II, LLC, had no standing to pursue claims related to an operating agreement for a separate legal entity that Treetop II was not a party to or had any ownership interest in. The court agreed, finding that Treetop II's claims for accounting and breach of fiduciary duty were unfounded for the same reasons set forth in our motion.

This decisive win underscores our commitment to delivering outstanding legal representation and achieving the best outcomes for our clients. Congratulations to our clients and to our dedicated legal team for their hard work in bringing about the favorable result.

Stay tuned for more updates and success stories!
