I say it again- if they are worrying about it, lawyers should be worrying about it. Take you cues regarding cybersecurity from the government. When they recommend change, lawyers should consider that change seriously as well.

The U.S. believes hackers affiliated with China's government are infiltrating telecoms and stealing users' data. The FBI has urged people to use end-to-end encryption to keep their info safe.

Generative AI is not for stupid people. That’s what I’ve been saying at all my CLE seminars lately. It’s not for stupid people or even the moderately competent people. Generative AI makes so many subtle-but-critical mistakes (hallucinations) that you need to have a superior understanding of the underlying subject matter if you’re going to use it safely. The mistakes are sneaky mistakes that don’t sound like mistakes. And they are presented so convincingly that, unless you already have a strong grasp of the underlying subject matter, you’re not going to even realize what you need to double check. It’s a valuable tool, but only in the hands of not-stupid people.

The latest episode of the Good Lawyers Gone Bad podcast has dropped, and I almost feel bad for the star of this story. Um…almost. In this episode we talk about financial crimes and the harsh penalty that was rendered against a lawyer. But…was it warranted? You be the judge!

The next episode of the Good Lawyers Gone Bad Podcast is out!

I've got two stories for you today! Sometimes a lawyer breaks the law, and today's first story is just that. I'm not going to tell you how, because that will spoil it for you, but it's an unusual bit of True Lawyer Crime. Other times a lawyer does something that's just horrible, but not quite criminal. It's what I call "True Lawyer Slime." That's what you'll get in today's second story...and what the lawyer did was, indeed, awful.

Hey everyone, I’m starting podcast! It's a true crime podcast, but there’s a twist. It’s the first true crime podcast where the criminals are lawyers! I’ll be using my experience researching lawyer crimes and prosecuting ethics grievances to tell amazing stories about lawyers who ended up behind bars. (BTW, I'm still teaching/speaking like always...this is in addition to that)

Here’s a link to my fist episode…I hope you’ll subscribe!

An apology to all of the people who are forced to read the materials I wrote for a seminar about "public officers." I am sorry that the word "p***c" exists and that it's not picked up by spellcheckers.

If you hate practicing law, then my latest book is for you. I’m proud to announce that “How to Stop Hating the Law” is now available for purchase. The tag line says it all — it’s a path to hope for miserable lawyers.

Many lawyers find the practice of law intolerable. It simply stinks. "So why don't you leave it?" they say. "Why not find another job? Your law degree is valuable!" They don't know what they're talking about. For most lawyers, switching careers simply isn't an option. We have bills to pay and mouths...

Zoom's proposed changes to its terms of service almost made the system a no-go for lawyers. This is a lesson you need to understand. It’s not clickbait. I know you don’t WANT to listen to me talk about legal ethics, but I think it’s worth the 8 minutes. Plus, I took it easy on you — it’s audio only, so you don’t have to look at my annoying face.

A Washington DC resident won a landmark legal victory Monday to bar her neighbor from smoking pot at his home after she sued over the smell.
