Friday doesn't happen without the people in this carousel.

Every name here helped build our 51st anniversary gala. Sponsors who keep our legal services free and in our clients' own languages. Bay Area bakers filling the dessert auction. Donors who gave us Delta airfare, 49ers tickets, Warriors club seats and signed Valkyries gear to raffle and auction off.

Thank you!

Swipe through to see everyone making Friday happen, then come celebrate with us at The New Koi Palace in Daly City. There's still time to grab a seat. 🎟️

We are honored to welcome Norman Wong as our special guest at our annual gala Oct. 2.

In 1898 the Supreme Court ruled that his great-grandfather, Wong Kim Ark, born in San Francisco to immigrant parents, was a citizen of the United States. That ruling is the reason millions of Americans are citizens today.

Over the past year Norman has become one of the most visible public voices in the national debate over birthright citizenship. In April he held vigil outside the Supreme Court during oral argument in Trump v. Barbara.

Join us for a fireside chat with Norman, and much more, Friday, Oct. 2 at The New Koi Palace in Daly City.

We're honored to announce our keynote speaker for this year's gala Power of the People...

Congresswoman Lateefah Simon!

She ran the Young Women's Freedom Center at 19, and spent the 30 years since expanding legal representation for migrants, asylum seekers, and formerly incarcerated people, including as Executive Director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. She'll share perspectives on how we take back the POWER OF THE PEOPLE to tackle injustice and inequality head on.

Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi joined us last year. Congresswoman Simon this October. And more special guest announcements to come.

Fifty-one years of community service we couldn't have done without our supporters, whether elected official, dedicated staff or volunteer, or sponsor or donor. We're grateful to all of you who continue to show up for us year after year.

On one side: a federal agency, a trafficker with a global network, a landlord with a law firm on retainer. On the other: one person, often working in their second language, trying to get a foothold in a complex legal system.

Alone, that is not a fair fight.

Together it is. Our attorneys and staff, our partners, our supporters, our communities, our clients. A night of support becomes a year of funding, and that becomes a lifetime of change for someone who needed it most.

Join us Friday, Oct. 2 at the new Koi Palace in Daly City for Power of the People, our 51st anniversary gala. A multi-course Michelin-recognized feast, a room full of people who show up, and special guests we will announce soon. By attending, you support vital legal services for thousands of immigrants, youth, domestic violence and trafficking survivors, elders and more in search of justice and equality.

Early bird tickets are $275 through Aug. 25, $300 after.

Q1'2026: 197 T visas approved. 199 T visas denied. 71,140 T visa applications pending.

Survivors of human trafficking deserve much, much better.

48 years.

At the current pace, that is how long it would take to clear the current backlog of applications for T visas—an essential form of immigration relief for trafficking survivors.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services just released its data on T visas for the 2nd quarter of this fiscal year:

197 T visas approved.
199 T visas denied.
71,140 T visa applications pending.

USCIS must allocate more resources to process these applications. Trafficking survivors are waiting in limbo, at risk of immigration detention or deportation. Official processing times have surged to 32 months, but, given the backlog, that number is unrealistic.

Survivors deserve better. They deserve protection, safety, and the chance to rebuild their lives.
