And in other breaking news, a federal judge in Rhode Island has struck down another immigration policy that targeted immigrants based on their country of origin, finding that the government cannot arbitrarily discriminate against people who are lawfully seeking immigration benefits.

The courts continue to remind this administration of a simple principle: fairness, due process, and equal treatment under the law matter.

I want to know why Immigration Judges are denying fee waivers in Immigration Court and claiming they have “no jurisdiction” to grant them, when the bill itself does not say that for certain forms.

People in detention cannot work. Many are the main providers for their families. Yet they are being told they must somehow come up with thousands of dollars in filing fees, or risk losing access to relief they may legally qualify for.

If Congress intended to eliminate fee waivers, then where is that language?

Because right now, it looks like people are being priced out of due process.

Today’s USCIS memo claiming that adjustment of tatus applications will only be adjudicated in “extraordinary circumstances” is outrageous.
A memo does not override a statute passed by Congress. Agency guidance cannot rewrite the INA, create new eligibility requirements, or erase rights Congress already provided.
That is not how the law works.

GEO Group, one of the largest private detention companies in the U.S., is paid based on how many beds are filled each day. In other words, the more people detained, the more money they make. When detention is tied to profit like this, it creates a clear incentive to keep facilities full. This is not just immigration policy, it is a business model, and that raises serious concerns.

But it’s important to remember: U.S. immigration law is still in place, and many forms of relief and status remain available.
