The way information is gathered and shared in the Collaborative Divorce Process is so different from how it’s handled in Litigation.

In a collaborative divorce, information gathering is designed to be transparent and organized, not adversarial. 📂👨🏻‍💻

✅ Everything runs through the financial neutral. Documents go into one shared, secure folder (SharePoint, ShareFile, Dropbox, etc.), so you only provide one set, not duplicate copies for every professional on the team.

✅ The team decides together if more help is needed. If there's a business to value or another complex asset, the team can bring in the right professional.

✅ One spreadsheet that everyone uses. Instead of competing numbers, both spouses and the team review the same picture of the marital estate to confirm every asset and liability is identified and accurately listed.

The result? Less duplication, less conflict, more confidence. 🤝📊💫

I was recently honored to be one of four attorney panelists from across Texas to speak at the 2026 Collaborative Divorce Texas Spring Conference on “Why I Prefer Litigation vs. Why I Don’t Litigate”. Each of us talked about our own journey leading to the current mix of collaborative divorce vs. litigation in our respective family law practices, and why that combination is most suited for us and our clients. I love attending this conference each year, where collaborative divorce professionals across Texas and the US connect and learn from each other. While my focus is in the collaborative divorce arena, I enjoyed hearing from the others on the panel who approach cases differently. Texas has many talented family lawyers who work hard to accomplish their clients’ goals, whether in the collaborative process or in litigation. I’m just glad that Texas was an early adopter of the collaborative divorce process, and that we have had such success with it over the last 25 years. Our clients are fortunate to be able to choose the process that best suits their needs as they navigate this enormous change in their lives.

Time flies when you're having fun! It's almost May, but I wanted to share that I had a chance to speak at the CDCC Team Thursday in January. It was an honor to be a part of the discussion. Read a bit about it here:

Camille was recently one of the panelists who spoke at Collaborative Divorce Collin County’s quarterly Team Thursday event. The panel reviewed a collaborative case where legal and financial decisions were largely negotiated before the process began—while emotional and relational issues lagged be...
