Your life can change significantly over the years.

Marriage. Divorce. New children or grandchildren. New property. Changes in finances. The loss of a loved one.

Your estate plan should reflect the life you're living today—not the circumstances you had years ago.

Consider reviewing:
✔️ Beneficiaries
✔️ Estate planning documents
✔️ Property and assets
✔️ Important contacts
✔️ Your current wishes

A plan that isn't updated may not fully reflect what you want.

Save this post as your reminder to review your estate plan.

If something happened to you tomorrow, would your family know what to do? 💭

Most of us know we should have our affairs in order—but knowing where to start is usually the hardest part. It’s not just about having a will or a trust; it’s about making sure your loved ones know where to find key documents, who to call, and what your actual wishes are.

Take a quick mental check:
✅ Do you know who would handle your finances if you couldn't?
✅ Are your beneficiary designations up to date?
✅ Does your family know where your important documents are stored?
✅ If you have a trust, do you know if your accounts are properly connected to it?

Getting organized doesn’t have to happen all at once. Start by knowing where you stand!

👉 Take the Quick Check & explore A Simple Place to Start:

A practical guide to getting your affairs in order, including important documents, financial information, healthcare wishes, family instructions, and the people who may need to act for you.

MYTH: “If I pass away, everything automatically goes to my spouse.”
It's a common assumption—but estate distribution can depend on factors such as asset ownership, beneficiary designations, and applicable Arizona law.

Your home, bank accounts, investments, and other assets may not all be handled in exactly the same way.
That's why it's important to understand what your current plan actually does—not simply assume everything will work out the way you expect.

Don't leave your family's future to assumptions.

Take the time to understand your plan and make sure it reflects your wishes.

Life changes. Your estate plan should keep up.

Marriage, divorce, new children or grandchildren, or the loss of a loved one can all affect who you want to receive your assets.

But if you haven't reviewed your beneficiary designations, your accounts may still reflect an old plan.

Take a moment to ask yourself:
✔️ Are my beneficiaries still correct?
✔️ Are my contingent beneficiaries updated?
✔️ Do they still reflect my wishes?

An estate plan isn't something you create once and forget. It should evolve as your life changes.

When was the last time you reviewed your beneficiaries?

Most people think estate planning starts with documents. It doesn't. 💛

It starts with the people you love and how you want things to go for them when you're no longer able to handle things yourself.
Thousands of Arizona families face probate court every year, with the delays, expenses, and very public proceedings that come with it, often at the worst possible time. That's why Rebecca Siddiqui and I wrote the Second Edition of How to Avoid Probate in Arizona, updated for today's Arizona laws.

It explains estate planning in plain English, with no scare tactics, no legal jargon, and no unnecessary complexity.

📖 Inside, you'll find answers to the questions that matter most:
✅ What would happen if something happened to you unexpectedly?
✅ Who would be responsible for making decisions?
✅ What happens to your home, savings, and other assets?
✅ Would your family face probate court?
✅ If you already have a trust, will it actually work the way you intended?

You'll also learn about wills, revocable living trusts, beneficiary designations, Arizona beneficiary deeds, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, probate, and trust funding. And you'll work through practical Arizona Plan Review exercises that help you see what you already know, what you need to verify, and the next step that makes sense for your family.

Understand what you want. Understand what you have. Understand what would happen today. Then decide whether there is a gap worth fixing.

Because the people you love deserve more than good intentions.

They deserve a plan.

We are more than just documents. We protect the ones you love most.

I Have a Will. Why Would I Consider a Trust?

A will and a living trust do not do exactly the same job.

A will can provide instructions about who should receive your property after you die, name the person you want handling your estate, and nominate a guardian for minor children.

A living trust can do something different. Certain assets that are properly connected to the trust may be able to pass outside of probate, while also providing instructions for how those assets should be managed during your lifetime and after your death.

That does not mean everyone automatically needs a trust. The better question is:

What would work best for you and your family?

Our complimentary Self-Guided Family Legacy Review™ is designed to help you look at what you already have in place, what may be missing, and what deserves a closer look.
