HURRICANE PREP — FABRIC SHIELDS

I know a lot of people are pulling out their hurricane window and door coverings right now and asking, “How do these things go up?” So I put together a quick visual guide to help!

🚨IMPORTANT: There are several different brands and types of hurricane protection systems, and they do not all install the same way. This graphic is intended as a general reference only.🚨

👉 Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific brand and system. If you’re unsure how yours should be installed, check the manufacturer’s instructions or contact the installer/builder before securing them.

A few reminders:
• Install your shields before the winds pick up…don’t wait until conditions become dangerous.
• Inspect the fabric, grommets, anchors and hardware for damage.
• Don’t force a panel or attachment that doesn’t seem to fit correctly.
• Use a safe ladder and have someone help with larger panels.
• Once everything is installed, double-check that every attachment point is secure.

And please check on your neighbors, especially anyone who may need a little help getting their storm protection up.

PLEASE PREPARE NOW & CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS

As we prepare for the storm here along the Emerald Coast, please don’t wait until the winds pick up to get your home and family ready.

A few important reminders:

✔️Know your evacuation zone and pay close attention to official evacuation orders. If your area is ordered to evacuate, please don’t wait.

✔️Protect your windows and doors. If your home has the removable fabric hurricane panels that attach to clips around your windows and doors, find them now, figure out which panel goes where, and get them installed while it’s still safe to be outside.

✔️GENERATOR SAFETY IS SO IMPORTANT. Never run a generator in your home, garage, screened porch or other enclosed area. Keep it OUTSIDE and at least 20 feet away from your home, doors, windows and vents. Carbon monoxide can be deadly.

⛽ Fill up your vehicles
🔋 Charge phones and backup batteries
💧 Have water, food and medications ready
🐾 Don’t forget supplies for your pets
🪑 Secure anything outside that could become airborne
📱 Stay connected to official emergency alerts

PLEASE check on your neighbors.

If you have an elderly neighbor, someone living alone, a family with small children, or someone who may not physically be able to put up their hurricane panels—offer to help. A few minutes of your time could make a huge difference for someone.

This one is personal. ❤️

Since January, I’ve been blessed to close over $4 MILLION in real estate sales.

That number makes me incredibly proud…but it’s not the number that means the most to me.

$30,000 does.

Through this business and Homes for Heroes, I’ve been able to give back $30,000 to our local heroes AND the Homes for Heroes Foundation. 🇺🇸

After 26 years as a military spouse, moving our family wherever the military sent us and spending those years raising my children, I never dreamed I would one day be in a position to give back on this kind of scale.

I loved being a stay-at-home mom. That chapter wasn’t time spent waiting for my life to begin… @ WAS a beautiful part of my life.

But I also had dreams of my own.

And now, at this stage of my life, I get to do something I absolutely love while helping and giving back to others.

🏡 CLOSED in Pace! 🔑

These buyers knew exactly what they wanted, and they weren’t willing to settle just to say they bought a house. So we kept looking. We toured, compared, ruled some out…and kept going until we found the home that truly felt right.

And yesterday, this beautiful home, officially became theirs! 🎉

Of course, there were a few VERY important members of the family whose needs had to be considered, too… 🐾🐾 Their dogs definitely had a vote in this home-buying process, and finding the right space for them was a huge part of finding the one.

But what makes this closing even more special is knowing what this home will become.

These two have opened their hearts and their lives as foster parents, and now they have a beautiful new place to continue doing just that…a home that will be filled with love, laughter, four-legged family members, and little ones who get to experience the warmth of a family welcoming them in. ❤️

And there was one more pretty amazing part of this closing…

🇺🇸 As a Homes for Heroes recipient, he received $4,011 back for his service! 💙

Helping heroes save when buying or selling a home is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do. When someone has spent their life serving others, being able to give something back makes closing day even sweeter.
