Hi everyone! I finally have power, but cell service is still very spotty. We are slowly but surely working on cleaning up this yard and making repairs. Exhausted, but thankful.

I hope everyone fared well through the storm! We are doing well. Yard is an absolute mess, but we are safe and our home held up beautifully.

Hi everyone! I know a lot of people here are new to the area and haven't been through a hurricane yet, so just wanted to share a little advice since I've done this a time or two (or a dozen).

1. Decide early if you're going to stay or evacuate. You don't want to wait until the last minute.
2. Stock up on things like water, gas, batteries (for flashlights and radios), and nonperishable foods. Stock up, but leave some for your neighbors.
3. Secure anything loose outside. It either needs to be strapped down or brought inside. Put up your shutters if you have them.
4. Have a plan for tornadoes (lowest, most interior room) and flooding.
5. Be mindful of trees (consider where you park your car or if any trees are near a room in your house).
5. Keep an eye on the news. If you're nervous, there's no shame in evacuating. Hurricanes are unpredictable and can absolutely make last minute jogs West or East or intensify more (or less) than expected.
