Last week, the OCBA hosted an Installation Luncheon, and it was a wonderful event. Members of our firm were able to honor the installation of incoming boards and new leaders.

We were so proud of Michael Barber for presenting the Annual Treasurer’s Financial Report and being President-Elect of the OCBA. We also want to congratulate both Sean McCormack and Michael Barber for being sworn into the OCBA Legal Aid Society Board of Trustees.

Michael Barber and Briggs Holshey were excited to attend the OCBA Young Lawyers Section Pass the Gavel Ceremony! Congratulations to Briggs for receiving a recognition plaque for leadership and service within the organization for 2025-2026.

The Pass the Gavel Ceremony is when the new Young Lawyers Section president is inducted. A line is formed of all previous YLS presidents as the gavel is physically passed from the furthest president to the present president of YLS OCBA. Our very own, Michael Barber, spoke on a panel hosted by the Mental Health Association of Central Florida on the topic of Mental Health in the Legal Profession. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and The Florida Firm believes it is essential that we normalize discussions about mental health and well-being.

The panel was moderated by Marni Stahlman, CEO of the Mental Health Association of Central Florida. Barbed joined the panel to provide insight into the unique mental health challenges facing legal professionals in the practice of law. It's important to have these discussions and learn ways to balance mental health in high-intensity professions.
