We have many friends (and parents of our kids' friends, sadly) who are very scared right now because they or someone they love is currently undocumented. They are terrified to leave their homes for fear of being detained by ICE.

The good people at NAKASEC (https://nakasec.org/resources/know-your-rights/) have released an app to help those who may find themselves being accosted by ICE that has a lot of important information and resources that people can use before and after an ICE detention. The one thing that is missing from it is their Immigration-Focused Family Preparedness Plan in Spanish, so we took the liberty of converting it into a Spanish-language version and edited the portion about planning for children's care to provide the Oklahoma "Statutory Form for Power of Attorney to Delegate Parental or Legal Custodian Powers" that can be used to give temporary parental rights to another person if the custodial parent(s) are unable to care for their children due to an unforeseen circumstance. We have added a printable template for "Know Your Rights" cards, but we also just ordered a large box of the professionally printed ones from www.immigrationadvocates.org and will be happy to give some to anyone who would like to have a few on hand once they arrive.

We don't do any kind of immigration law, but we want to be able to help any way we can, so if you or a loved one is concerned about being caught up in an ICE raid or detained and are worried about not having access to your important documents, please let us know. Justice Legal Team PLLLP has a hefty scanner and will be happy to scan and email you a copy of your important documents at no charge.

People aren't "illegal". They might be undocumented non-citizens, but they're humans and it's not illegal to be a human being. Even though we aren't immigration attorneys, we see the fear and chaos other legal issues like these create for families. We will do whatever we can to prevent more families from being torn apart so cruelly. ♥️
