⚖️ Settlement Secured ⚖️

Suffering a work-related injury and requesting reasonable accommodations is NOT a wrongdoing: it is a right protected by law.

Unfortunately, as happened with our client, many companies respond with hostility when an employee is injured: performance warnings that didn’t exist before the accident, drastic cuts in hours, and fabricated excuses to justify an illegal termination.

No company can punish, reduce the pay of, or fire a worker for reporting a workplace accident. Holding companies fully accountable and fighting for the fair compensation every worker deserves is essential.

If you’ve gone through something similar or faced retaliation after being injured, know your rights. 💼🏛️✨

If your hours were cut after reporting an injury or you were fired for requesting reasonable accommodations, you’re not alone. Let’s talk about your rights. 📲 1-833-522-6274

🔥$40,000🔥
Our client, a restaurant worker, came to us after being unlawfully terminated. While speaking with her, we discovered she had been working over 40 hours a week as both a cook and server, without receiving proper overtime pay.

To hide the overtime, her employer put her waitress hours on official payroll with paystubs, but paid her cooking hours off-the-books via Zelle. On top of that, they deducted pay for breaks she never took.

When she developed a health condition, management ignored her requests for sick leave and disability assistance, then unfairly terminated her.

We stepped in and recovered $40,000 for unpaid wages and illegal retaliation.

Is your employer doing any of the following?
-Deducting break time you never got to take.
-Paying cash/Zelle under the table to avoid overtime.
-Firing you after you request sick leave or medical accommodation.

You have rights, and we can help.

Can you be prohibited from discussing your salary in New York or New Jersey? 💰
Generally, no.

In New York, employees have the right to ask about, discuss, and disclose information regarding their salaries, and employers generally cannot prohibit these conversations or retaliate against an employee for exercising those rights.

In New Jersey, the law also protects employees who discuss their wages and working conditions with other workers.

Therefore, a policy that simply states:
“You are prohibited from discussing your salary with your coworkers.”
🚩 May be illegal.

And if your employer threatens, disciplines, or fires you for exercising these rights, you may have an additional claim.

⚠️ There are exceptions, and not all situations are covered in the same way.

How many hours can an employee legally work in New York or New Jersey? 👀

For an adult worker, there is no general maximum number of weekly hours set by state law.

So 40 hours is NOT the legal limit for work.

An employer can schedule an adult worker to work more than 40 hours, although the additional hours may be subject to overtime rules.

⚠️ But there are exceptions and special rules. For example, New York has weekly rest requirements for certain workers and industries, and New Jersey has special rules for certain workers, including some employees at healthcare facilities.

Therefore, the number of hours you can legally work also depends on the type of work you do.
