We are proud to recognize Paola Calleyro for her outstanding leadership at the University of Miami School of Law's panel discussion on career paths after law school. As President of the Hispanic Law Students Association, Paola did an exceptional job moderating a thoughtful conversation featuring KTT Partner Maria Garcia, judges, and other private practice and public sector lawyers who shared their experiences and insights with future legal professionals. The engagement from the students was remarkable, with insightful questions and meaningful dialogue throughout the evening. We were also pleased to see Assistant Dean Georgie Angones in attendance.

Last Friday, KTT attorney Katherine Mitchell had the opportunity to speak with Fort Lauderdale High School’s Pre-Law & Cambridge Program. A Broward County native, Katie enjoyed sharing her path to becoming an attorney, discussing the differences between civil and criminal law, and offering advice to students interested in pursuing a career in the legal profession. We were pleased to attend the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida’s Hispanic Heritage Month Program, “Let’s Hear from the Next Generation: Is Miami Still the Gateway to the Americas?” The program, hosted by United States Bankruptcy Judge Corali Lopez-Castro, brought members of Miami’s legal community together to discuss the experiences of attorneys who came to the United States from other countries, the impact of those journeys on their careers, and Miami’s continuing role as a legal and cultural gateway to the Americas. KTT’s Meaghan Goldstein and Katherine A. Mitchell were especially glad to connect with Judge Lopez-Castro and United States Magistrate Judge Detra Shaw-Wilder, and celebrate the diverse perspectives that strengthen Miami’s legal community.

After a Florida judge denied the defendant's motion to dismiss and set a potential trial date for KTT's lawsuit on behalf of residents suffering nuisance from an FPL facility, the Sun-Sentinel turned to KTT Partner Ben Widlanski for commentary.

“For years, residents of Davis Isles have endured constant noise and nuisance, which have damaged their quality of life and their property values,” Widlanski tells the Sun-Sentinel. “We look forward to securing the necessary relief to make our clients whole.” Widlanski worked alongside Jorge L. KTT’s lawsuit on behalf of dozens of residents experiencing an on-going nuisance from FPL’s Dania Beach facility will continue after a Florida judge denied the defendant’s motion to dismiss. KTT will continue to pursue relief for the clients who have seen severe disruptions to their daily lives and substantially diminished property values.

“We look forward to securing relief on behalf of the 86 members of the Davis Isles community who have been living with FPL’s ever-present noise and nuisance for the past half-decade,” said KTT Partner Benjamin Widlanski, who worked alongside Jorge L.
