TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Parks Foundation is pleased to announce four new additions to its Board of Directors.

Jose Felix Diaz of Miami, Jackye Maxey of Lakeland, Avery McKnight of Tallahassee and Greg Wilson of Ormond Beach will all serve on the 14-member volunteer board, effective immediately.

“We are so excited to welcome such an impressive group of new board members,” Foundation president Tammy Gustafson said. “Jose, Jackye, Avery and Greg are outstanding leaders in their respective communities, and their skills, perspectives and expertise will be of great value as we continue our mission to support Florida’s award-winning state parks.”

Mike Watson, our Information Systems and Facilities Manager, shared with us the Lord Millowitz Cup after his team captured it January 2nd.

After losing their first game 8-5, the team juggled the lines, players made adjustments, and they went on to win the rest of their games. In the finals, they faced the team that first beat them and had gone undefeated until falling to Mike's team 6-2.

No. 17–1618, 723 Fed. Appx. 964, reversed and remanded; No. 17–1623, 883 F. 3d 100, and No. 18–107, 884 F. 3d 560, affirmed.

"An employer who fired an individual for being homos*xual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different s*x. S*x plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids."

"Those who adopted the Civil Rights Act might not have anticipated their work would lead to this particular result... But the limits of the drafters’ imagination supply no reason to ignore the law’s demands... Only the written word is the law, and all persons are entitled to its benefit."

"Few facts are needed to appreciate the legal question we face. Each of the three cases before us started the same way: An employer fired a long-time employee shortly after the employee revealed that he or she is homos*xual or transgender—and allegedly for no reason other than the employee’s homos*xuality or transgender status."
