Sioli Alexander Pino was proud to sponsor and attend the 2026 APIW Miami Annual golf Tournament co-hosted by RISE and Re40! Collectively, $10,000 was raised and donated to Insurance Cares, which will fund scholarships for deserving students pursuing careers in insurance.

Our Partner, Stephanie Wylie, and Associate, Alexander Gonzalez, took to the greens to support this year’s charitable cause.

As a minority and women owned law firm committed to the insurance community, supporting education and diversity in the insurance industry is especially important to us. We are proud to have been able to contribute to Insurance Care’s charitable mission.

SAP Counsel, Sergio Herrera, joined the fireside chat, “Longer-Term Health Issues Arising from Conflicts,” where he shared industry insights and explored the complex health and legal issues arising from the ongoing Gulf conflict.

Sergio will take part in a fireside chat: Longer-Term Health Issues Arising from Conflicts. This session will examine a pressing issue arising from the ongoing Gulf conflict and the potential for longer-term claims as seafarers experience mental health episodes months or even years after a crisis has passed.

His experience across maritime liability, coverage, and litigation provides valuable insight into how the actions of owners and insurers today may influence future claims and how they can help mitigate the impact of trauma on seafarers.

Congratulations to Emily Palacio and the SAP team on securing for our client a dismissal with prejudice of a claim arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.

During the case, serious concerns arose regarding the authenticity of medical evidence supporting the claim.
After formal hearing, the Claimant requested to withdraw the case without prejudice, which would have left the door open for him to pursue the claim again. Our team successfully opposed that request and obtained a dismissal with prejudice, bringing the matter to a final resolution.

Our team was able to protect our client from unnecessary and repeated litigation by carefully examining the evidence and challenging a questionable claim.
