Meeting with Dean Pascal Goldschmidt to discuss a botched surgery case.
We analyzed and discussed whether a surgeon committed malpractice.
In Florida, a plaintiff in a medical malpractice lawsuit can generally recover three categories of damages: (1) economic, (2) non-economic, and, in limited cases, (3) punitive damages.
1. Economic Damages (Compensatory for Financial Losses)

These are measurable, out-of-pocket expenses caused by the malpractice. They can include:
• Past and future medical expenses (hospital bills, surgeries, rehabilitation, medications, nursing care, etc.)
• Lost wages (income lost due to time away from work)
• Loss of future earning capacity (if the injury prevents the plaintiff from returning to their prior work or reduces earning ability)
• Other financial costs directly related to the malpractice (e.g., home modifications, medical equipment, in-home care).
2. Non-Economic Damages (Intangible Losses)

These compensate for harm that doesn’t have a direct dollar value, such as:
• Pain and suffering
• Mental anguish and emotional distress
• Loss of enjoyment of life
• Disfigurement or disability
• Loss of companionship and consortium (for a spouse or family in wrongful death cases).
3. Punitive Damages (Rare)
• Awarded only in cases of gross negligence, reckless disregard for patient safety, or intentional misconduct.
• Florida law requires clear and convincing evidence that the provider’s conduct went beyond ordinary negligence.
• These damages are intended to punish and deter egregious behavior, not compensate the victim.

The Ingraham Building is a historic, Italian Renaissance Revival office building in downtown Miami that was completed in 1927 during the Florida Land Boom.
It is known for its elegant architecture and was named in honor of James E. Ingraham, a pioneer of Florida’s development.
Recognizing its architectural and historical significance, the Ingraham Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Discussing the environmental concerns of Miami's future with the Mayor. 🌎💚
I was thrilled to engage in a dialogue with the honorable Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. We discussed flooding in the city of Miami and the federal government's involvement in some upcoming solutions. 🏙️🌧️
I was born and raised in Miami and I feel a civic duty to at least attempt to make a microscopic difference.
We are in the spotlight, and Miami will be an example to the world. It will either be an example of a huge failed city that fell into the ocean, or of a successful city that used science, resilience, and tenacity to overcome the challenges of flooding. 🏝️🌇🌊
We don't need a small group fighting for the environment perfectly, we need everyone doing it imperfectly. 🫶🏼💚🌎
Remember we only get one earth! Lets leave a better world than we found. 🙏🏼
PS, huge thanks to for all you do! 👏👏

Magic City 🌇🫶🏼 #305
There are some pros and cons of living in any city. But once in a while the light hits the Miami at just the right angle, and it's all worth it. 🌅
Say what you will but that is one beautiful city. 🌴🌇🛩

Just planted 1,000 Trees! 🌴🌳🌴🌳🌎💚
Here's how it works. Everytime I close a real estate deal I will donate a portion of the proceeds to the environment! 🌎💚
Additionally, I already have one deal in the pipeline to build a park in South Dade! Stay tuned for more on that.

UM Law battle photos.⚖️
We worked so hard we frequently passed out face down into our books. 📚📕
But the classes that seemed boring at the time prepared us in ways we never imagined.
Law school doesn't just teach you the law; it teaches you how to think, and how to research. 📖🤓
Property law and Corporate law were both interesting to me. And now I get to apply them to real eatate development projects, and watch the ideas come to life! 🌇🌴
