Happy World Breastfeeding Week!

World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1st to August 7th.

This week, we honor and support mothers worldwide by recognizing the significance of breastfeeding for infants' health and well-being and the lactation rights of working mothers. As a law firm dedicated to advocating for employee rights, including employees who are also mothers, it's important to shed light on this topic.

We are grateful for the robust legal framework in California and throughout the United States that safeguards breastfeeding mothers in the workplace. The California Labor Code and the Fair Employment and Housing Act ( ) provide nursing mothers the right to reasonable accommodations, such as break time and private spaces, to express breast milk at work. The federal Fair Labor Standards Act ( ) provides similar protections to working mothers throughout the United States. California laws also prohibit discrimination and retaliation against mothers who assert or attempt to assert their rights to lactation accommodations or for complaining about the failure of an employer to provide this accommodation. These laws play a crucial role in supporting new mothers' physical and emotional well-being, enabling them to balance their professional responsibilities while nurturing their infants.

No mother should have to choose between her career and her right to breastfeed her infant. At Payton Employment Law, PC, we stand by the California and federal laws that protect breastfeeding mothers' rights and are proud to advocate for working mothers whose lactation rights have been violated.

Join us in celebrating the start of Disability Pride Month! 🌟

July is a month filled with significance for the disability community. It was chosen as Disability Pride Month to commemorate the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) on July 26, 1990. This groundbreaking legislation marked a major milestone in the fight for equal rights, accessibility, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

The California Fair Employment and Housing Act and the federal ADA provide protections for employees who are suffering with disabilities in the workplace. If you've experienced unfair treatment, discrimination, or harassment at work due to your disability, or your employer has failed to accommodate it, our dedicated team at Payton Employment Law, PC is available to discuss your situation and explore how we may be able to help.

We have the knowledge and experience to advocate for your rights, ensure your voice is heard, and ensure justice is served.

Let this month also be a reminder that you deserve equal opportunities and a work environment free from discrimination.

Happy 250th Independence Day! Today, we pay tribute to the brave leaders and visionaries who courageously fought for our rights and freedom.

On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress, consisting of delegates from the thirteen American colonies, adopted the Declaration of Independence. This significant document outlined the colonies’ grievances against British rule and asserted their right to form a new, independent nation.

At Payton Employment Law, PC, we reflect on the sacrifices made by our founding fathers and express gratitude for the freedoms they secured for us.

Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the continued fight for equality. ❤️🖤💚

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865 — the day Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved African Americans were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

What began as a celebration of liberation in 1866 became a federally recognized holiday in 2021, serving as a powerful reminder of both the progress made and the work that still lies ahead.

At Payton Employment Law, PC, we proudly recognize Juneteenth and reaffirm our commitment to fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all. We believe every person deserves dignity, respect, and justice — in the workplace and beyond.

Our Managing Partner, Attorney Chantal Payton, attended this year’s 2026 Western Trial Lawyers Association (“WTLA”) Summer Seminar in Maui, Hawaii! 🌺⚖️

The WTLA Summer Seminar brings together trial attorneys and legal professionals from across the country for a week focused on continuing legal education, collaboration, and professional development. The Western Trial Lawyers Association is dedicated to supporting trial attorneys through education, advocacy, and networking opportunities that strengthen the legal community and promote excellence in trial practice.

Throughout the week, Chantal gained valuable insights into issues affecting litigation, advocacy, and effective client representation while connecting with fellow legal professionals who share a commitment to justice and to protecting the rights of others.

Beyond the educational sessions, the seminar also highlights the importance of community, professional growth, and continued learning within the legal profession—values that remain central to our work at Payton Employment Law, PC.

We are grateful for the experience, knowledge, and connections gained throughout the week and look forward to bringing those insights back to better serve our clients.

Happy National Waitstaff Day! 🍽️

Today, we recognize the individuals who keep the restaurant industry moving—those who deliver not just meals, but exceptional service, patience, and care with every table they serve.

National Waitstaff Day highlights the vital role waitstaff play behind the scenes and on the front lines of every dining experience. Their dedication and professionalism often go far beyond what meets the eye.

At Payton Employment Law, PC, we are proud to stand with waitstaff and advocate for their workplace rights. From wage and hour violations to unfair treatment on the job, we are committed to holding employers accountable and protecting the workers who help keep this industry thriving.

If you’re dining out today, take a moment to show your appreciation—whether through a kind word, a thoughtful review, or a generous tip.
