MLO partner Catherine Lerer was recently featured in the Los Angeles Times discussing the growing safety concerns surrounding E-bikes.🚲
As E-bike use continues to rise across Southern California, lawmakers and local officials are debating how to balance accessibility, recreation, and public safety. A Los Angeles City Council committee recently advanced a proposal that would prohibit E-bikes on most city hiking and equestrian trails.
Drawing from MLO’s experience representing individuals injured in E-bike collisions, Catherine shared an important concern:
“Minors riding E-bikes do not appreciate how fast these bikes go, and they don’t know the rules that apply to riding an E-bike. It’s just a recipe for disaster.”
Whether you’re a rider, parent, pedestrian, or driver, understanding the risks associated with e-bikes is becoming increasingly important as their popularity grows.‼️
Thank you to the Los Angeles Times for highlighting this important conversation.
