Scam Alert: "Artist" Check Scam Making the Rounds Again
We’ve received a few recent reports about a familiar scam making the rounds again. In these cases, a scammer pretends to be an artist and claims they want to use your photos to create artwork for sale. They often say they already have a buyer lined up and will pay you with an electronic check.
Here's where the scam happens:
❌ The scammer sends a check for more than the agreed amount.
❌ They then ask you to send the extra money back.
❌ Later, the check is found to be fraudulent, and you're left responsible for the money you sent.
This is a scam!
If you receive a message like this:
✅ Ignore the sender
✅ Do not provide personal or financial information
✅ Report the account or profile
